Denomination : Fiano Di Avellino DOCG
Historical notes : Ancient vine of Roman times, Fiano was called Latin to distinguish it from the vines of Greek origin. It is a vine that thrives well in soils of volcanic origin as well as clayey ones. Its etymology refers to Apianus and the Apiane grapes, mentioned by Columella and Pliny, whose name in ancient times was traced back to the bees that would be greedy for this sugary grape. Grapes: Fiano di Avellino 100%. Soil : Calcareous clayey with Skeleton. Plant density : 3500 vines per hectare. Production area: Irpine hills located in the municipalities of Lapio and Forino. Exposure : South - East. Altitude: 400 m above sea level Training system: espalier with guyot pruning. Vineyard age : about 15 years. Yield per hectare : about 70 quintals. Harvest period: End of October. Maturation: 3/4 months in steel tanks with permanence on its lees. Refinement: three/four months in the bottle. Color : yellow with green reflections. Smell : Fresh and complex with spicy notes that mix with the floral notes of lime, acacia, musk, sage and pineapple. Taste: Mineral notes reminiscent of apricot and orange peel are followed by a very long finish of toasted hazelnuts, a typical feature of this variety. Recommended pairings: ideal with elaborate fish dishes, shellfish-based first courses, vegetable risottos, white meats, buffalo mozzarella
